A Great Sports Day

At Hawes we manage to sustain a mix of competition and tradition. We have lots of different events and they all take place on our school field, as small as it is! It's one of the best supported days of the year. Parents and friends sit in the sun and lean on the school walls. I always like to imagine the many times sports day has been held over the last 132 years since our school started. We were lucky to find a dry afternoon, we have had only a very few this year. if you have your own sports day memories please pass them on.

At the end of July we took a group down to London

One of the most tiring weeks of my entire life and I wasn't the one in charge! We travelled down by coach 5-6 hours. We went to the dinosaur exhibition at the O2 Centre. We stayed in Thameside Youth Hostel whch was really good. We walked around London, saw Shrek at the Theatre Royal and met some of the cast. We visited the Tower of London, played rounders under floodlights, went to Hampton Court and went on the brilliant London Eye. If we could have watched Arsenal play football the trip would have been perfect.

Everyone was really kind to each other and the children were all asleep no later than 3am everyday.

The children took nearly all of these photos. For all you Californians the grey stuff is an English summer sky!
