Suggestions for leaving quality comments.
Leaving Quality Comments
‘Comments’ are the energy that drives the school blogs of the world. Leaving quality comments that add to the post and the experience of the poster is a skill that we all have to work at. Various people have published ideas relating to how to construct a quality comment. The two principal people whose guidance I have used are ‘Mrs Yollis’ and ‘Kathleen Morris’, for which I thank them and give their links below.
The principal points are these:
· Do not give any personal information, but mention what country you are writing from and the year group you are in, as this often interests others.
· Compliment the writer/poster, that you are commenting on, in a positive and specific way.
· Add some new information to the post.
· Try to make a connection to the publisher … something that explains your interest in their blog.
· End your comment with a question.
· Proof read, it is important to tighten up on the quality of your spelling and use of simple punctuation. If necessary add more words not more exclamation marks!
· Avoid just saying “it was ‘cool’ or ‘fun’ or ‘cute’ ”, these comments do not add to the post.
· If you do leave a question, go back a couple of days later and see if it has been replied to.
